Fur & Feather 2019
Nine anglers competed in this years Fur & Feather competition. A total of 12 Rainbow trout were weighed in, with over a dozen Browns returned. The overall winner on Fly was Alan Powell who weighed in 4 fish for totalling 9lbs 6oz. Alan lifted the trophy and a Free visitor permit for the 2020 season. The heaviest fish on Fly 3lbs 10oz, was taken by Clive Davies and the heaviest bag on worm was won by Mike Barrett weighing in 2 fish totalling 5lbs.
Fur & Feather 2018
Eighteen hardy anglers turned out for this years Fur & Feather competition. Conditions were far from ideal with a strong cold northerly wind blowing in right across the reservoir making it tricky to get a line out at times. Although the lake had been stocked with a good number of rainbow trout just prior to the competition, few rainbow trout were caught although a number of anglers caught brownies which were returned to the water. Top Rod was Alan Mathews with three rainbows weighing 3lbs 6oz whilst Clive Davies took the heaviest fish prize and young Charlie Parker had the only Rainbow on worm.
Special thanks go to our sponsors A.F. Blakemore (Spar), Aber Guns & Tackle and GB Fishing for their continued generous support.

Lakes produce some fantastic fish!
John Gough had a cracking couple of days on Llyn Oerfa during October. John said “Two photos are of a 6lb 4 oz fish that I hooked about five yards out it took a size 10 black nymph of my own dressing. It was a very strong fish leaping well clear of the water twice. After putting maximum pressure on the fish for several minutes I managed to net it well before it was played out, and after a rushed couple of photos and weighed it in my McLeans weigh net. When released it swam away really strongly. A few days later I caught the other fish of 4lb 4oz , It took my size 12 Bibio Variant about 2 feet from the shoreline in about 12 inches of water. It again was a strong fish but I put as much pressure on the fish as I could and netted it quickly. It also swam away very strongly.” Well done John, cracking fish.
